Keri-Anne Payne and Duncan Goodhew jump in the great lake at British Gas SwimBritain Blenheim Palace

Olympic Silver medalist and double World Champion Keri-Anne Payne and Olympic Gold medalist Duncan Goodhew joined more than eight hundred swimmers as they took part in British Gas SwimBritain in the Great Lake at Blenheim Palace on Sunday 7thSeptember.
Now in its second year, British Gas SwimBritain encourages more people to swim regularly and sees the decorated stars of British Swimming plus celebrities including David Walliams joining the public in the water at 11 locations nationwide between 30th August and 4th October.
Participants compete as teams of four to complete relay challenges of 500m and 1,000m before receiving their hard-earned medals, with some swimmers using the event to raise funds for charity.
The event at Blenheim was a fun-packed day for spectators as well as those competing, with a range of indoor and outdoor activities to keep families entertained, including arts and craft activities, a Wii Sports station, a 9 hole crazy golf course, table tennis and performances from a live Jazz Band.
Keri-Anne Payne said: “British Gas SwimBritain is a great event as it encourages more people to swim, which is something I’m very passionate about. I hope SwimBritain will inspire some future champions, so make sure you register for the upcoming SwimBritain events which take place in the next month.”
British Gas SwimBritain ambassador, Duncan Goodhew said, “It’s great to be a part of SwimBritain for a second year.The fantastic achievements of British swimmers have seen the popularity of swimming rise and I’m excited to be a part of this.
“British Gas SwimBritain is designed to inspire everyone to take the plunge and become more involved in swimming.  Swimmers have the chance to swim with the stars and it’s great that SwimBritain is proving extremely popular, whether it’s people taking their first strokes or World Champions in the making.”
Keri-anne went head to head in the second session of the day against
her husband, three time Olympian and double Commonwealth champion
swimmer David Carry.

Keri-anne completed the leg first, beating David by an impressive 12 seconds.
SwimBritain is open to swimmers of all abilities.
