What's involved
SwimBritain is a series of 4,000m team swimming relays taking place around Britain this September. Little SwimBritain is a 2,000m team relay option – perfect if you’re not as confident in the pool.
Team up
Teams of four take part in SwimBritain. Swim with your friends, or join in the fun as a family. Family teams are made up of at least one adult and up to three children aged between eight and fifteen.

The events
- Choose from ten pool relays nationwide, or one open water relay at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire
- SwimBritain pool relays for teams are 4,000m (each person completes 4 x 250m laps), and Little SwimBritain relays are 2,000m (each person completes 4 x 125m laps)
- Open water relays are 4,000m for adult only teams (each person completes 4 x 250m laps)
To help you build on your swimming progress after the event, relays will be timed using chipped timing bands so you can track how you do in real time on the day. Team results will also be posted online after the event. All of our swimming stars will be swimming in a SwimBritain event.
In-pool coaching
Your entry fee includes four 30-minute sessions at over 150 pools across the country. Run by accredited swimming coaches, these are designed to boost your confidence in the water and build up your swimming strength at your own pace.
Use our pool finder to find your nearest pool. Then once you’ve signed up, contact them to arrange your sessions.
Tips and techniques
As well as in-pool training, we’ve put together tips and swimming technique videos to get you ready. There’s also a series of training session cards for you to print and follow. Plus, you can see how well you’re progressing by logging your time as you train.
Swimming stars
Britain’s top swimming stars are joining in the fun. Pick your favourite to represent your team when you sign up. You’ll then get personalised email updates from them to make sure you enjoy your time in the water.
All of our swimming stars will be swimming in a SwimBritain event – perhaps even with your team!

SwimBritain is a non-profit making event. Your entry fee goes
some way to covering the costs of the SwimBritain events.
