Fitness test
Take our fitness test to check how fit you really are! Keep returning to re-take the test at regular intervals during your SwimBritain training and see how your fitness level improves!
What's involved?
- A step test
What do I need?
- The National Fitness Test audio track (supplied below).
- A watch (with second hand) or stopwatch
- The bottom 2 steps of a standard staircase.
So that we make sure you take the appropriate fitness test, please tell us a bit about you. This data will not be stored, we will use it simply to determine which test is suitable for you:
Sit on the bottom step of the stairs for 1-2 minutes to allow your heart rate to return to its normal level. Please take your pulse for 10 seconds and enter the number of heart beats counted below:
Get ready to start the test, click Start below and walk up and down the first 2 steps of the stairs to the pace.
When the audio track stops, take your pulse for 10 seconds and enter the number of heart beats counted below:
Wait for 45 seconds, then take your pulse for 10 seconds and enter the number of heart beats counted below:
